Warming Up the Basement with Carpeting and Rugs
My partner and I recently decided to tackle a basement remodeling project - turning our outdated, unfinished basement into a beautiful rec room / home theater. The project went off without a hitch, but as we were sitting down to watch our first movie in our newly finished basement, we realized that something still felt missing - and it was beneath our feet! We wished we had basement carpet squares and some accent rugs to finish off the look and style of our basement, as well as to keep our feet nice and toasty. As if that wasn't enough, all the new surfaces in our basement reflected sound too well, making for a very echoing movie experience.
Thinking fast, we hopped on the net and wound up getting the best basement carpet ideas from two sites that had some great offers to choose from. First was BuildDirect - the company we'd used last year for our new flooring in the dining room (our previous DIY project - big success). We'd had a great experience with them, and they were willing to ship us samples of the basement carpet tiles we were considering absolutely free - which was great, because we really couldn't make up our minds between a couple of different choices. In the end, we ended up with a beautiful broadloom area carpet from them.
While that was a major improvement to our remodel, we still felt that something was missing - we wanted some accent rugs to spice up the look of the floor a bit. These took us a bit longer to find, as we'd never bought rugs online before. After some dedicated searching, we found a place that offered a great selection of high quality rugs at BIG discounts. We picked up a $3200 rug - for under $800! We absolutely love the new purchases, and we'd strongly recommend them to anyone else who's looking for a cheap and easy way to beautify their space. Whether you’re considering a renovation or dealing with wet basement carpet padding and carpet that needs to be replaced. We highly recommend these guys. Though we hope we never have to experience it, cleaning up after flooded basement carpet mold arrives will be easier knowing it will not cost us fortune to replace our existing carpet. We would use them for a basement again or any other room in our home!
